'Infinitive' ialah 'kata dasar' (samada bagi 'verb' atau 'non-verb').
'Infinitive' menjadi 'Verb'
Apabila sesuatu 'Infinitive' itu benar-benar terjadi/berlaku, maka ia dipanggil 'Verb'. Ia berlaku kepada sesetengah 'Infinitive'.
'Infinitive' bertukar menjadi 'verb' apabila perbuatan betul-betul berlaku/terjadi.
Apabila 'infinitive' bertukar menjadi 'verb', kadang-kadang ejaannya berubah dan adakalanya ejaannya tidak berubah.
Ejaan 'infinitive' TIDAK berubah apabila :
1. Perbuatan ('verb') itu dilakukan oleh objek 'I, you, plural' dan berlaku dalam 'present tense' (kelaziman sekarang) dan 'future tense' (masa depan) dalam bentuk 'aktif'. Contoh : 'I/You/They walk to school', 'I/You/They will walk to school'. Perkataan Inggeris 'walk' adalah 'infinitive' tapi ejaannya tidak berubah walaupun hal 'walk' (berjalan) benar-benar berlaku, iaitu ejaannya masih 'walk' walaupun ia telah menjadi 'verb'.
2. Perbuatan ('verb') itu dilakukan oleh objek 'singular' dan berlaku dalam 'future tense' dalam bentuk 'aktif'. Contoh : 'She will walk to school'.
3. Perbuatan ('verb') itu dilakukan oleh semua objek ('I, you, singular, plural') samada berlaku dalam 'present tense', 'past tense' atau 'future tense' dalam bentuk 'negatif'. Contoh : 'I/You/They will not walk to school'.
4. Perbuatan ('verb') itu dilakukan oleh semua objek ('I, you, singular, plural') samada berlaku dalam 'past tense', 'present tense' atau 'future tense' dalam bentuk 'soalan'. Contoh : 'will I/you/he/they play ?'. Perkataan Inggeris 'play' adalah 'infinitive'.
Ejaan 'infinitive' BERUBAH apabila :
1. Perbuatan ('verb') dilakukan oleh objek 'plural' dalam masa 'past tense', 'perfect tense' dan 'continuous tense' dalam bentuk 'aktif'. Contoh : 'I/You/They walked to school', 'They have studied the report', 'They are walking towards the pond'. Perkataan Inggeris 'walk' adalah 'infinitive' tapi ejaannya berubah apabila hal 'walk' (berjalan) benar-benar berlaku apabila pelakunya 'plural' dan masanya 'past tense', 'perfect tense' dan 'continuous tense'.
2. Perbuatan ('verb') dilakukan oleh objek 'singular' dalam masa 'present tense', 'past tense', 'perfect tense' dan 'continuous tense' dalam bentuk 'aktif'. Contoh : 'He walks to school', 'He has studied the report', 'He is walking towards the pond', 'He will has been studying since early morning'. Perkataan Inggeris 'walk' adalah 'infinitive' tapi ejaannya berubah apabila hal 'walk' (berjalan) benar-benar berlaku apabila pelakunya 'singular' dan masanya 'present tense', 'past tense', 'perfect tense' dan 'continuous tense'.
3. Perbuatan ('verb') itu dilakukan oleh objek 'singular' atau 'plural' samada berlaku dalam 'past tense', 'present tense' atau 'future tense' dalam bentuk 'pasif'.
4. Perbuatan ('verb') itu dilakukan oleh objek 'singular' atau 'plural' samada berlaku dalam 'past tense', 'present tense' atau 'future tense' dalam bentuk 'pasif' dan 'negatif'.
